Operating Environment

South Dublin County Council’s work is influenced and controlled by several different external factors and environs. The following conditions have a large impact on how we plan and carry out our duties.

Legal and regulatory requirements

Council’s work in a legislative environment and embed International, European and national legislation throughout our plans and policies. Some recent legislation includes

Financial Consideration

At the time this plan was being prepared, the Council’s finances were strong due to a €?? Million (?? per cent) increase in the annual budget between 2019 and 2024, as well as strong economic growth nationally. However, the economic future is uncertain – main concerns[GL1] . This means we must maintain a focus on building competitiveness and managing our finances sustainably.
