Digital Transformation in SDCC

South Dublin County Council’s digital transformation programme supports the objectives of the Council’s Corporate Plan by modernising how services are designed and delivered, improving accessibility, efficiency and organisational resilience. The programme is focused on delivering user‑centred, digital‑by‑default services that enhance the citizen experience while maintaining strong standards of governance, data protection and public trust.

The Council is preparing for a major upgrade to how digital services are delivered. In line with the Local Government Digital & ICT Strategy 2030, SDCC is currently tendering for the provision of a corporate digital services platform. This platform will be introduced in stages, allowing services to be tested, refined and improved as they are rolled out. Early phases will focus on expanding the availability of online services and improving how internal systems connect and share information, providing a consistent foundation for future service redesign.

Alongside platform development, new digital roles are being introduced to support service design, project delivery, and the ongoing application of accessibility and data protection standards. Several technology upgrades are already underway, including improvements to server infrastructure, backup systems, and tools that support secure and flexible working. These upgrades will strengthen system reliability and ensure the organisation is technically ready to support the new digital platform.
