Upcoming at SDCC: Part 8 Social Housing at Ballycullen
As part of a series of news articles to highlight key projects at South Dublin County Council, we take a look at the key facts around an upcoming proposal for new social housing at Ballycullen.
The current housing situation is a priority for the Council. Land at Ballycullen was identified a number of years ago as having the potential for housing development and is one of more than 20 sites across the County considered for our current social housing programme.
This proposal provides for 27 newly built social homes for approximately 100 people, including families who are currently homeless and people with acute medical needs.
Following prior consultation with Knocklyon United FC, who currently have two pitches under annual licence from Council on part of this site, the proposal provides for a number of additional pitches here. The club also has annual licences from the Council for additional pitches at Delafort, Kennedy’s Field and Tymon Park.
The Part 8 proposal at the July Council meeting will be voted on by elected members and, if passed, plans for the development will commence immediately.
