Reduced Speed Limit on local roads

From today, 7 February 2025, all default speed limits on local rural roads in the County have been reduced from 80 km/h to 60 km/h, in line with  the Department of Transport’s campaign to reduce the speed on roads nationally.  Local Roads are categorised as either Rural or Urban. Urban roads already have established speed limit bye laws.

All relevant signage is in place.  We ask all drivers to respect the new speed limits. 

Driver behaviour and the reduction of speeds on our roads can reduce the number of accidents and fatalities.
