Passing of Former Councillor and Mayor of South Dublin County Council, Eamonn Walsh
Mayor of South Dublin County Council, Cllr Baby Pereppadan, Chief Executive Colm Ward, and all staff at South Dublin County Council would like to express their sympathies to the family of former Councillor and Mayor of South Dublin County Council, Eamonn Walsh.
Eamonn was elected in 1991 to Dublin County Council representing the Terenure area. In 1992 he was elected to Daíl Eireann where he served representing Dublin South West until 1997. Eamonn was the Chairman of the South Dublin Area Committee overseeing the creation of the new South Dublin County Council in 1994, and he turned the sod for the build of the new Council’s Head Offices in 1993. Eamonn was elected to Cathaoirleach of South Dublin County Council from 1997 to 1998.
During Eamonn’s time as Mayor and Councillor of South Dublin County Council, Eamonn made a significant contribution to the improvement of South Dublin County.
Eamonn passed away on 26 January 2025 at Tallaght University Hospital. Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this sad time. May he rest in peace.
