South County Dublin’s Environmental Poster Competition 2023
The Environmental Awareness Competition encourages primary school children to learn about environmental issues and to express themselves through their artwork. In 2023 we are focusing on an Anti-Dog Poo theme. Children are encouraged to get creative and produce a poster and a slogan that will engage the public and help spread the message.
Dog Poo affects all our lives. Poop from dogs, carry germs like bacteria and parasites that can make people sick. It also contaminates waterways and harms the environment. Practice responsible pet poop habits to keep yourself, your family, and the environment healthy.
To highlight the issue of dog fouling South Dublin County Council developed a new campaign to remind dog owners to pick up after their pup wherever they are.
The campaign features the adorable “Scally” the dog in a series of videos which highlight the consequences of not picking up the poop. Whether under the cover of darkness, in a field or on the beach remember “Your dog’s poop could end up anywhere! Always Pick it up!”
Failure to pick up after your dog is an offence under the Litter Management Acts 1997 -2009 and could result in an on-the-spot fine of €150. The maximum court fine is €3000.
There are two age related categories.
- Under 9
- Over 9
All you must do is design an A3 poster under the Anti-Dog Poo theme and include a slogan in English and Irish.
