Decade of Centenaries Exhibition Launched
Local Legacies Remembered is a project commissioned by South Dublin County Council as part of the Decade of Centenaries programme, supported by the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media.
It is a collaboration between Artist in Residence Eva Kelly and Historian in Residence Liz Gillis. The idea of illustration as a visual essay is the focus of Eva’s work and through the residency she documented aspects of South Dublin life and culture, offering a new perspective in a visual form.
Local Legacies Remembered showcases the unique story of eight women from the 1913-23 period who played a vital role in shaping the history and culture of South Dublin County: Katharine Tynan, Nora Tynan Hinkson, Mrs. Margaret Pearse, Josie Stallard Clarke, Ita O’Gorman, Margaret Pearse Jnr., Mary Brigid Pearse, and May Guinness.
The exhibition was launched by Cllr. Alan Edge at Ballyroan Library on Thursday 3rd March, where it will run until 15th April, before being exhibited at venues throughout South Dublin County.
