Bank Holiday Monday, 4 May 2026: Luas Emergency Exercise
A planned emergency response exercise will take place on the Luas Red Line at the Belgard Stop, Tallaght, on Monday, 4 May 2026.
This exercise, conducted in collaboration with the emergency services will simulate an incident involving the Luas network. The scenario may involve pedestrians, cyclists, motorists, and vehicles and passers by will feel its authentic.
As essential engineering track works are scheduled on the Luas Red Line over the May Bank Holiday weekend, resulting in no tram service in this area, this provides an ideal opportunity to carry out an exercise if this nature.
To facilitate the exercise, there will be temporary restrictions to road access in the vicinity of the Belgard Luas Stop and surrounding road junctions, affecting motorists. The exercise is scheduled to commence at 10:00am and will be concluded by 1:00 PM.
South Dublin County Council, Dublin Fire Brigade, National Ambulance Service, An Garda Síochána, together with Transdev Dublin Light Rail and Transport Infrastructure Ireland, would like to thank the public for their cooperation and understanding.
Ensuring the safety of Luas customers and the network remains our number one priority. Exercises such as this highlight the importance of working in partnership and preparedness.
