Upgraded Dog Run Facilities at Tymon and Rathcoole Park
South Dublin County Council is delighted to announce the opening of upgraded dog run facilities at Tymon Park and a new dog run at Rathcoole Park, now open to the public and their four‑legged friends.
At Tymon Park, works have enhanced a well‑used amenity and include new perimeter fencing, hard‑surfaced pens, improved drainage, and a connecting footpath. Additional features such as landscape mounding and a dog play tunnel have also been incorporated to improve usability and provide a more engaging space.
At Rathcoole Park, a new centrally located dog run has been delivered, with works including perimeter fencing, improved surfacing, and clearly defined access points, providing a safe and accessible space for park visitors.
Dog runs provide a secure environment for dogs to exercise, socialise, and play off‑leash, while supporting responsible use of public parks.
The Tymon Park dog run was delivered as part of the 2026 Public Realm Improvement Works Programme, with additional funding support from the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine, through the 2025 Dog Control Support Initiative. The Rathcoole Park facility was also delivered through the 2026 Public Realm Improvement Works Programme, reflecting the Council’s continued investment in local park amenities.
