Mayor of SDCC, Cllr Pamela Kearns invites you to an evening with inspirational local sporting heroes for an engaging chat exploring resilience, wellbeing, and the positive role of men in our communities.
This is a fantastic opportunity to hear first-hand experiences from top athletes as they share insights. Whether you’re a player, coach, mentor, and spectator this event promises to be a meaningful and impactful discussion.
Sarah Healy from Tools for Better will host the event and explore the themes with the panel:

![]() | Michael Darragh Macauley is a former Dublin Gaelic footballer and one of the standout midfielders of his generation, playing a central role in Dublin’s most successful era. An 8-time All-Ireland Senior Football Championship winner (2011–2020) and GAA/GPA Footballer of the Year in 2013, he was renowned for his athleticism, leadership, and dynamic attacking play. At club level with Ballyboden St Enda’s, he won multiple county titles, a Leinster championship, and the All-Ireland Club title in 2016. Since retiring from inter-county football in 2021, Macauley has remained influential in sport and society, serving as CEO of Sanctuary Runners Ireland (2024–2025) and contributing to media as a coach on RTÉ’s Ireland’s Fittest Family. Widely respected both on and off the field, he is recognised for his leadership, community impact, and commitment to inclusion. |
![]() | Jack Woolley is an Irish taekwondo Olympian and pioneering figure for the sport in Ireland. A native of Jobstown, Tallaght, he competes with South Dublin Taekwondo Club and made history as Ireland’s first Olympic taekwondo athlete, representing the country at both the Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024 Games. Competing in the −58 kg category, he reached the round of 16 at both Olympics, achieving a career-best 7th-place finish in Paris. On the international stage, Woolley secured a silver medal at the 2023 European Games, marking one of Ireland’s standout results in taekwondo. He first gained national recognition as a teenager in RTÉ’s Road to Rio documentary, which followed his early Olympic ambitions. Beyond competition, Woolley is recognised for his openness and advocacy, becoming one of the first high-profile Irish athletes in combat sports to come out publicly. Following a serious assault in 2021, his resilience and willingness to speak out further elevated his status as a role model. Through his sporting achievements and personal journey, he has become one of Ireland’s most influential and recognisable athletes. |
![]() | Conor Kearns is an Irish professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Dundalk in the League of Ireland Premier Division, on loan from Shelbourne. A Templeogue native, he began his career with UCD, progressing through their academy to play a key role in their 2018 First Division title-winning season and gaining top-flight experience in 2019. Kearns has also featured for St Patrick’s Athletic and Galway United, establishing a reputation for his shot-stopping ability and composure. He joined Shelbourne in 2022 and went on to win Team of the Year and Shelbourne Player of the Year 2023 and the League in 2024 as well as being named Goalkeeper of the Year. He is currently on loan to Dundalk where he continues to impress. At international level, he has represented the Republic of Ireland at under-21 level and has trained with the senior squad. Known for his resilience and steady development, Kearns is regarded as a talented goalkeeper within Irish football. |
![]() | Kenneth Egan is a local Clondalkin man, born and bred. He has lived in this area all his life. He had been a member of Neilstown Boxing Club for over 20 years and has travelled the world in his previous profession as a High-Performance Athlete representing Ireland. He has competed in over 50 countries on International duty; the pinnacle was winning an Olympic silver medal in Beijing, China 2008. Kenneth has always maintained that home is where the heart is. He has spoken openly about his struggle with alcohol and the destruction it caused in his life. Kenneth has 16 years of Recovery behind him and is a prominent advocate for health and Well-Being. He attends a number of speaking engagements all over the country and has travelled to Europe to speak on various topics such as High Performance and Well-Being. He is a practising Psychotherapist in his hometown of Clondalkin village. He has built up a great connection with many different communities and clubs throughout Clondalkin and is still quite active within the local area. |
