SDCC reports no major aftereffects from Storm Austen
South Dublin County Council (SDCC) has reported no major impacts across the county from Storm Austen.
Over the past number of days, SDCC crews have been actively preparing for Storm Austen by clearing gully covers and river screens, preparing sandbags, and monitoring river levels across the county. Council emergency response crews remained available throughout the night to respond to any incidents arising from the storm.
While overall impacts were limited, recorded average rainfall levels of 33mm resulted in minor flooding on a small number of roads, including Katherine Tynan Road and at the junction of Grange Road and Nutgrove Avenue. Crews are currently addressing a number of fallen trees and assessing any further clean-up or remedial works that may be required.
SDCC also received assistance from Dublin Fire Brigade in removing a fallen tree from the N81, helping to ensure the route was reopened safely and as quickly as possible.
The Council's Severe Weather Assessment Team (SWAT) continues to closely monitor weather conditions and is ensuring that appropriate resources remain in place. Crews remain on standby as preparations continue for the arrival of Storm Boelo.
South Dublin County Council is encouraging residents, businesses and road users to remain vigilant and to continue monitoring official Council communication channels, including social media platforms and the Council website, for the latest updates and advice.
