Minister Charlie McConalogue joins Mayor Francis Timmons and Minister Emer Higgins for the official opening of Lucan Leisure Campus.

A major new leisure and swimming facility has opened in Lucan, providing residents with modern spaces for swimming, fitness, recreation and community activities.
The official opening of Lucan Leisure Campus was attended by Minister Charlie McConalogue, Mayor Timmons, Minister Emer Higgins, elected members, local TDs, SDCC Chief Executive Colm Ward, community representatives and project partners.
The campus combines a new swimming pool complex with a refurbished leisure centre, creating a modern and accessible facility for the growing Lucan community. The development includes a six-lane, 25-metre swimming pool, a variable-depth multiuse pool, fitness facilities, exercise studios, sports and recreation spaces, a crèche and supporting amenities.
Funded through the Department of Culture, Communication and Sport's Local Authority Swimming Pool Programme, the project highlights the value of partnership between local and national government in delivering community infrastructure.

Speaking at the opening, Cllr. Francis Timmons, Mayor of SDCC, said: "Lucan Leisure Campus is an investment in the people of Lucan. It gives residents of all ages new opportunities to be active, learn new skills and spend time together. I look forward to seeing local families, schools, clubs and community groups make full use of this fantastic facility in the years ahead."
Designed to be welcoming, accessible and energy efficient, the campus has been developed as a destination where people can swim, exercise, learn and connect. The swimming pool building meets Nearly Zero Energy Building standards, helping to reduce energy use and support a more sustainable future.

Accessibility and inclusion have been central to the design of Lucan Leisure Campus which includes a Changing Places, accessible changing facilities and a versatile pool environment, including a movable depth pool, ensuring that people of all ages and abilities can participate in sport, recreation and community activities.
SDCC would like to thank everyone involved in the delivery of the project and looks forward to seeing Lucan Leisure Campus become a valued part of community life.
