Another Infrastructure (AI) at North Clondalkin Library

On Saturday 29 August 2026, artist ensemble Drop Table and South Dublin County Council (SDCC) Arts Office hosted a programme of talks, workshops, artworks and food in a one-day event 'Another Infrastructure (AI): art, environment, data centres & us' in North Clondalkin Library. The day was fully booked, with the final panel discussion on community-led infrastructures opened by South Dublin Mayor Francis Timmons. Artist group Drop Table are creating artworks about alternative forms of infrastructure, such as small scale data servers, care infrastructures, distributed money systems, games about LGBTQIA+ experience, and local food systems. The day was an open get-together for those with an interest in these complex environmental and social issues. Drop Table is an ensemble of artists led by Shane Finan and includes Alisha Doody, Dasha Ilina, Living Rhythms (Heather Griffin and Patrick Mulvihill), Paul O’Neill, Amy Bunce, and Cían Flynn.

The seven artists working collectively as Drop Table have been developing work in South Dublin titled 'Another Infrastructure (AI)'. The artists are based across Ireland, working out of North Clondalkin Library as part of South Dublin County Council's IN CONTEXT Public Art programme. While working toward a collaborative endpoint, each artist is working on their own separate project related to one idea around infrastructure. In the coming weeks, the artists will host more workshops and events, including a programme of workshops with the Women's Collective Ronanstown, a series of workshops with teenagers at Ronanstown Youth Service, and a continued programme of game-making for LGBT+ community at North Clondalkin Library. Project lead Shane Finan said "We were thrilled with the attendance and the deep interest from people in the community and those who travelled. It was amazing to see how knowledgeable people are, and how willing they are to engage in calm and open debate. We look forward to the next events." Each artist is developing a project that will be presented as part of an exhibition and event at North Clondalkin Library in early 2027.
