Our Villages

South Dublin is home to a diverse collection of villages that together showcase the area’s blend of heritage, local life and easy access to nature. Tallaght is the vibrant heart of the region, offering major shopping, cultural venues and a gateway to the Dublin Mountains, while nearby Rathfarnham charms visitors with its historic castle, parklands and village atmosphere. Templeogue is known for its leafy streets, river walks and welcoming cafés, creating a relaxed suburban feel. Further west, Clondalkin and Lucan are among the oldest settlements in the county, rich in history, traditional village centres and riverside scenery along the Camac and Liffey. Palmerstown combines a strong sense of community with excellent access to Phoenix Park and the city, while Newcastle and Saggart retain a more rural village character, surrounded by countryside and close to outdoor attractions. Together, these villages make South Dublin an appealing destination, offering everything from historic landmarks to modern amenities in a friendly, accessible setting.
