Park Outdoor Workout Areas/ Calisthenics
In 2021, South Dublin County Council launched Ireland's first purpose-built outdoor calisthenics workout area at Tymon Park, through the Public Realm Improvement Works Programme.
The equipment was the first of its kind in Ireland to facilitate competitive calisthenics training. The Irish Calisthenics Championship was hosted in Tymon Park in June 2022.
The calisthenics workout area has been highly popular, in response to this greater demand, South Dublin County Council installed multiple calisthenics areas across the County.
Calisthenics facilities in South County Dublin:
Calisthenics is a form of physical training, which focuses on teaching you to master your own bodyweight, using minimal equipment.
The aim of these calisthenic area installations is to empower people to create healthy habits, enabling them to improve their own physical and mental well-being, through exercising in a public park.
For upcoming park fit classes and workshops please visit Active Cities - SDCSP webpage.
In partnership with BarMonkey instructional videos have been created to show you how to use the equipment safely and efficiently.
