‘UNVEILED’: IRISH MYTHOLOGY AS YOU’VE NEVER SEEN IT BEFORE!
A series of talks on how highly-experimental ‘Text to Video AI’ can bring Irish Mythology to life, prompted by classic manuscripts and iconic artworks.
Prepare to step into a world where the echoes of Ireland’s mythological past collides with cutting-edge technology, creating breath-taking, interactive, cinematic experiences like never before.
This Seachtain na Gaeilge, award-winning writer and technologist Niall Austin presents a series of talks on harnessing ‘Text-to-Video AI’ to reimagine Ireland’s most legendary tales, transforming ancient mythology into vivid, immersive live-action films.
Drawing directly from Ireland’s deep cultural roots, this ‘Unveiled’ project draws directly from Ireland's cultural treasures such as the weathered pages of the Book of Invasions, the imposing Cúchulainn statue standing sentinel at the GPO and the ancient stones of Newgrange, transforming these tangible connections to our past into living, breathing cinematic narratives.
But this is more than just a revolution in storytelling - it’s an invitation to experience mythology first-hand. By integrating immersive gaming technology, audiences will not only witness these legendary sagas but step inside them, engaging with heroes, gods, and mythical creatures in a way never before possible.
Supported by South Dublin County Council and the Arts Council, this genre-defining innovation has been coined ‘ChronoFiction’ - a new frontier where historical authenticity meets dynamic storytelling, allowing audiences to engage with Ireland’s past as if they were living it. The fusion of AI-generated historical realism with interactive engagement in-turn will place the audience at the heart of the action, turning age-old myths into fully realized, playable experiences.
"We're not simply retelling these stories," Austin explains. "We're reviving them for a new generation, allowing audiences to walk alongside Cúchulainn, participate in the battles of the Tuatha Dé Danann, and experience the mystical landscapes of ancient Ireland with unprecedented immediacy and emotional impact."
So whether you’re a lover of Irish folklore, a gaming enthusiast or simply someone intrigued by the possibilities of AI-driven storytelling, these talks promise an unforgettable journey through time, technology and Irish identity.
