Surface Water

South Dublin County Council owns , operates and maintains the surface water drainage network within South Dublin.  Surface water drainage is the process of collecting and removing rainwater from surfaces like roofs, driveways, and roads to prevent flooding. This process involves channelling the water through systems such as pipes, swales and open ditches to eventually discharge to our local rivers and streams.  For all queries relating to surface water drainage you should continue to contact us, while any queries on Foul Drainage or Drinking Water should be addressed to Uisce Eireann.

For any new development, it is highly likely you will need a connection to our surface water drainage network, to discharge any excess rainfall water from your property.  In order to facilitate this, please fill out the attached form, and email it to naturalwater@sdublincoco.ie.  Upon receipt we will process your application and organise one of our Natural Water Inspectors to supervise the new connection on-site.
