Parks
Griffeen Valley Park
The Park, comprising over 200 acres, is formed from a series of public open spaces, each with its own identifiable character. The first and oldest section is the popular little town park in the middle of Lucan Village. The second section, known as Vesey Park, can be entered at Adamstown / Newcastle Road; it winds its way around the Vesey housing estate and ends at the Lucan Bypass. The third section is an open space on the southern side of the bypass ending at Lynche's Lane. The enclosed section of Griffeen Valley Park starts on the other side of Lynche's Lane and extends along the rear of the Arthur Griffith housing estate to Griffeen Avenue. Further south is the Parks Department nursery and works depot for the North Clondalkin / Lucan / Palmerstown area.
There is also a dog park located here, with accessibility for all visitors, including benches, a viewing area along with easy to reach entry and exit points. Designated dog park area’s, such as this one, allows your dog to play with other dogs in a safe environment. Visiting a dog park fosters a more active and social environment for both humans and dogs alike. The positive influence of dog parks in the local community is undeniable.
The park also consists of a large playground, a skate park and a teenspace. The physical and mental wellbeing of teenagers is greatly enhanced by access to the outdoors, social contact and physical activity. The Teenspace programme is focused on meeting these specific needs and providing space teenagers can call their own.
