Consultation for the Scheme for the Establishment of Strategic Policy Committees 2024 - 2029
South Dublin County Council has prepared a Draft Scheme for the Establishment of Strategic Policy Committees for the term of the new Council 2024 to 2029.
The role of each of the Strategic Policy Committees is to assist the full Council in the formulation, development and review of policy in relation to functions of a strategic nature, subject to the relevant statutory framework. The Council is and remains the decision-making authority, and it is the task of the SPCs, as committees of the Council, to advise the Council in the context of policy formation and development.

Strategic Policy Committees (SPC)
The purpose of Strategic Policy Committees (SPC) is to formulate, develop, monitor and review policies that relate to the functions of South Dublin County Council and to advise the Council accordingly. Final policy decisions, however, will ultimately rest with the full council acting as a body.
SPCs are made up of elected councillors and other representatives of the social partners and other sectoral interests. Each SPC is chaired by an elected councillor and will be supported by a Director of Service.
