Official Opening of Playspace at Waterstown Park, Palmerstown

Mayor of South Dublin County Council, Councillor Vicky Casserly officially opens the Playspace at Waterstown Park, Palmerstown.

On Wednesday 4 September 2019, the Mayor of South Dublin County Council, Councillor Vicky Casserly, officially opened the Playspace at Waterstown Park.

The project was funded by South Dublin County Council through the '300K Have Your Say' participatory budgeting initiative where projects were created and voted on by the communities of Lucan, Adamstown and Palmerstown. The next phase of '€300k Have Your Say' kicks off at a launch in Firhouse Community Center on Wednesday, 18 September 2019.

Speaking at the event, Mayor Cllr Vicky Casserly said,

“The new playground incorporates natural play, which has been proven to have benefits for children in terms of increasing well-being, developing imagination and allowing children to assess risk and develop their coping abilities. In addition, the playground was designed and audited to ensure access is possible for children of all types of abilities and an accessible picnic table has been installed on request following the audit.”

The Mayor went on to pay tribute to the local community for their support of the popular playground and the work of the Council staff in facilitating the consultation with the local communities, managing the project and maintaining the playspace.
