Freyne's Pharmacy Make a Full Recovery - New Shopfront is the Best Medicine!!

Local pharmacy Freyne’s and Co. Ltd have been awarded €1,000 in recognition of the work undertaken to transform the shopfront design of it’s business premises. Freyne’s Pharmacy, Orchard Road, Clondalkin Village, received €1,000 from South Dublin County Council under the Council’s annual Shopfront Grant Scheme. The award of Best Designed Shopfront was in addition to a grant received to part fund the installation of an improved shopfront design.

“I congratulate Sallyann on the fabulous improvement to the new shopfront at Freyne’s Pharmacy in Clondalkin” said Mayor Mark Ward. “The Shopfront Grant Scheme provides an opportunity for local businesses and retailers to preserve and enhance our villages. The wonderful façade sets off what is already a lovely street scape in this picturesque village. Winning the Best Designed Shopfront award on top of receiving the grant towards the improvement works shows that it makes sense for local businesses to apply for the Shopfront Grant Scheme. How a shopfront looks matters to both the business owner and the local community.”

The annual Shopfront Grant Scheme provides grants for something as simple as painting to replacing an entire shopfront. Grants are available for a maximum of 50% of overall costs. Furthermore, a prize of €1,000 is awarded for the Best Designed Shopfront under the scheme. South Dublin County Council launched the scheme for the fifth year running and would encourage businesses to apply, closing dates for applications is 29 March 2019.

“My family have been serving the community of Clondalkin since 1935 and we are very proud of that. We wanted to give the pharmacy a revitalised look, but in keeping with the traditional values of a pharmacy. Our customers are delighted with the transformation and we are extremely grateful to the Council for their support with this grant. It's a great scheme for small businesses and I would encourage other shop owners to consider applying for this grant. It improves the overall look of our village, which can only be good for business and customers.”

Under the 2018 Shopfront Grant Scheme, the works at Freyne’s Pharmacy included restoration of the timber shopfront, repainting, new signage and installation of an automated door.
