South Dublin receives €2,654,305 under New Community Recognition Fund

The Government today announced €50 million in funding for over 880 projects as part of the first ever Community Recognition Fund. The major initiative is designed to support and reward communities that have welcomed families and citizens from Ukraine and other countries.

South Dublin County Council have received €2,654,305 for 19 projects across the county, which were supported and submitted by the Community Department of the Council. These projects range from €15,000 for minor repair improvements at Rathcoole Football club to €350,000 for the Provision of new all-weather sports pitch at Knockmitten Park.

 

Speaking on todays announcement, Mayor of South Dublin County Council Cllr. Emma Murphy said; I am delighted to see the announcement of much deserved community funding for 19 really welcome projects. This funding is a recognition of the warm welcome the people of South Dublin gave to those who have come from the direst of circumstances and this funding will allow these communities to be enhanced for the benefit of all. I must also send thanks to the Community staff at SDCC, who worked tirelessly to get this funding over the line.”
