Launch of As I Am and South Dublin County Council Partnership toward becoming an Autism-friendly Service Provider

03 Dec 25

South Dublin County Council’s County Hall is taking an important step toward becoming accredited as an Autism-friendly Service Provider through As I Am, Ireland’s national autism charity. As I Am advocates for a society that is accessible, accepting and affirming for autistic people, and supports organisations in creating environments where everyone can participate fully.

SDCC is committed to inclusion and accessibility and strives to ensure that our services and facilities are as open and welcoming as possible. As part of the accreditation process, As I Am recently carried out an accessibility audit of County Hall. Today, we are pleased to publish a new visual guide to County Hall, along with a sensory map. These resources mark the first milestone in our journey toward becoming an Autism-friendly building and service provider.

The visual guide and sensory map outline the layout of County Hall and help visitors know what to expect when they arrive, supporting a more predictable and positive experience for all.

“We are delighted to take this first step toward becoming Autism-friendly. SDCC has always prided itself on being proactive and ambitious in our accessibility work, and this is a vital step in ensuring our facilities are as open and inclusive as possible. I welcome our partnership with As I Am and look forward to continuing this journey to make our premises as Autism-friendly as we can.”
