Enabling everyone in our community to Think Big.
Amazon Web Services in partnership with South Dublin County Council have provided a Think Big Space in Tallaght. Such spaces are designed to provide young people from local communities a place beyond the classroom to explore and cultivate an interest in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Maths (STEAM) disciplines.
The mission is to afford young people an opportunity to engage in a range of STEAM experiences while enabling them to Think Big - to become the confident, creative, collaborative, risk-taking & innovative leaders of tomorrow - to discover the power of digital technology and how they may harness it to shape the world.
The space will have programmes covering a range of free workshops for primary and secondary schools that will engage and inspire students. These workshops aim to balance fun and learning in equal measures, enabling students to discover STEAM hands-on, engaging approach.
Bringing STEAM to life with a range of Fun, Hands-On, Engaging workshops.
65% of today’s students will be employed in jobs that don’t exist yet. Think Big Space introduction to robotics workshops will give students an insight into the role of robotics in our world.
Working with a variety of the world’s leading educational resources, students will be introduced to the world of robotics by building and programming robots to complete various challenges. Students design, construct and modify robots, developing technical skills that are much sought after in the STEAM industry. They will also program their robots to carry out specific tasks, developing workflow skills, learning about logic, loops, switches, blocks and more.
Over the coming years, the Think Big Space will become a learning hub for the community of Tallaght and the wider South Dublin County area.
Located in the Big Picture Youth Service Centre at Tallaght Cross East, it’s easily accessible by bus and LUAS services.
