Saggart Schoolhouse Community Centre officially opened
Area Committee Chair for Clondalkin, Newcastle, Rathcoole, Saggart and Brittas Area Committee, Councillor Shirley O’Hara officially opens the new playspace at Saggart Schoolhouse Community Centre
On Monday 23rd June 2025, Area Committee Chair for Clondalkin, Newcastle, Rathcoole, Saggart and Brittas Area Committee , Councillor Shirley O’Hara officially opened the new playspace at Saggart Schoolhouse Community Centre.
Speaking at the event Cllr Shirley O’Hara said;
“The playspace has delivered a much sought-after facility for the local area and since its delivery has proven to be very popular, with many families gathering here daily.”
The playspace consists of a range of different swings, a large multi-play climbing unit with a slide, an accessible trampoline, a spinner, an accessible roundabout, a sand play area, percussion post, a range of natural features as well as park benches and an accessible picnic area. It’s a great addition to the newly opened Saggart Schoolhouse Community Centre.
SDCC acknowledges the work of Play and Leisure Services and Irish Fencing Ltd in delivering the playspace. The project was funded by the Department of Rural and Community Development via the Community Recognition Fund. This fund supports the development of community infrastructure and facilities for the entire community in recognition of the contribution being made in the area in welcoming and hosting new arrivals from Ukraine and other countries.
