Mayor of SDCC opens upgraded playspace at Carrigmore Park, City West

29 May 25

On Monday 26th May 2025 the Mayor of South Dublin County Council, Councillor Baby Pereppadan officially opened the newly upgraded playspace at Carrigmore Park.

Speaking at the event Mayor Cllr Baby Pereppadan said;

Play is recognised as a vital activity for healthy child development.  It is good for the body and good for the mind.  Playgrounds are also very important for creating strong communities.

Since this playground has re-opened, there has been an increase in family groups using the park and everyone is getting more exercise and fresh air.

The range of equipment here has been selected to provide something for all age groups of children.  The features are designed to encourage imaginative play and constructive play which is so important for young children.  There are also features to encourage group play and socialisation.  Universal design is also a key feature of the design.

These works were funded by the Community Recognition Fund provided by the Department of Rural and Community Development. This fund supports the development of community infrastructure and facilities for the entire community in recognition of the contribution being made in the area in welcoming and hosting new arrivals from Ukraine and other countries.”
