Social Football Programme

Social Football Programme

The Social Football Programme is a collaborative initiative by Active Cities in partnership with local youth organisations across South Dublin County. The programme is designed to provide young people with a relaxed and enjoyable way to get active, without the pressure of competition or performance. It focuses on creating a fun, inclusive, and supportive environment where everyone can join in, regardless of their skill level.

This programme brings together a range of local community groups, including Connect 4, Adamstown Community Centre, and Cross Care Ronanstown, to deliver weekly social football sessions for young people. Over 140 participants attend the sessions each week, with around 80 young people joining the sessions in Tallaght alone. These sessions are an excellent opportunity for young people to meet new friends, improve their fitness, and engage in physical activity in a low-pressure setting.

In addition to the weekly sessions, we are excited to announce plans for a Social Football Tournament at the end of the summer. This event will bring teams from across the county together to compete in a friendly, non-competitive tournament, celebrating the positive impact of social football and community engagement. The tournament will be a fantastic way to round off the programme for the year, with participants having the chance to showcase their skills, experience the camaraderie of team sports, and most importantly, have fun!

Active South Dublin is committed to providing opportunities for young people to be active in their communities. Through the Social Football Programme, we aim to promote physical activity, build connections, and create a positive environment where young people can stay healthy, active, and engaged. We look forward to seeing the continued success and growth of this programme, and we invite more young people to get involved and enjoy the benefits of football in a social, relaxed setting.
