Her Moves Weightlifting Programme
In addition to the dance programme in Killinarden and St. Aiden’s, we also ran a Her Moves programme in Coláiste Bríde, which focused on weightlifting. This weightlifting programme was designed to introduce girls to strength training and empower them through physical activity. The girls learned proper lifting techniques, strength-building exercises, and the benefits of weightlifting for overall fitness and well-being.
The programme aimed to break down stereotypes about weightlifting and offer girls an opportunity to develop physical strength and mental resilience in a supportive, non-judgmental environment. Many of the girls in Coláiste Bríde had not previously been exposed to strength-based activities, and the programme gave them a new way to challenge themselves and build confidence. By providing access to weightlifting, Active South Dublin and Her Moves aimed to inspire a sense of empowerment and promote long-term engagement in strength training for health, fitness, and personal growth.
Through initiatives like the Her Moves programme, Active South Dublin continues to create opportunities for young girls to get involved in physical activity, discover new sports, and feel more confident in their abilities. We are committed to supporting the next generation of active girls, helping them develop lifelong habits of physical activity and well-being.
