Our Homes and Climate Change
To limit the damage of climate change on us all, and to lessen the financial impact of the energy crisis and rising bills, we all need to make efforts to reduce our energy consumption.
According to the National Climate Change Action Plan 2021, our homes are responsible for 11.2% of total annual greenhouse gas emissions in Ireland. If we look at Dublin alone, this percentage increases significantly. While the Council's operations make up approximately just 3% of the total energy used in South Dublin, we are taking a range of actions and working with a variety of groups to reduce energy consumption across the county.
At home, where possible, we can look to change how we create, use and keep energy. We’ll get warmer, more comfortable homes as a result.
