Dublin Climate Action Week officially launched on Monday 9th September

Launch of Dublin Climate Action Week

The Round Room in Dublin’s Mansion House was the venue for today’s official launch of Dublin Climate Action Week 2024, with the Lord Mayor of Dublin welcoming the Mayors of Fingal and South Dublin County Councils and An Cathaoirleach of Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council into the city.

Today marks the first day of a busy programme which will see over 50 public events take place across the four Dublin Local Authorities. There are many aspects to climate action and this year’s broad and inclusive programme seeks to offer something for young and old, for the climate advocates and those that are simply curious. The variety of events includes festivals, workshops, youth conferences, stories from inspirational businesses, advice on energy, film screenings, and walks and talks with experts, authors and artists. See the Dublin Climate Action Week website for the full list of events and follow #DCAW24 for updates.

The mayors of the four Dublin Local Authorities jointly stated “The actions in each of the local authority Climate Action Plans, adopted earlier this year, continue our commitment to lead on climate action. The climate challenge requires collaboration across local authorities, businesses and communities.

The newly established Community Climate Action Programme supported by the Department of Environment, Climate and Communications and administered by local authorities, exemplifies how working together can deliver tangible improvements at a local level. The community groups represented here today demonstrate the local level benefits of coordinated and collaborative climate actions.

It is heartening to see the variety of themes covered in over 50 events taking place during Dublin Climate Action Week, as it illustrates the breadth of solutions being undertaken in Dublin to support climate action.”

Now in its third iteration, Dublin Climate Action Week is organised and delivered through a partnership of the four Dublin Local Authorities, the Dublin Metropolitan Climate Action Regional Office (CARO) and Codema – Dublin’s Energy Agency.
