Engaging with the citizens of the county is vital. South Dublin County Council works with communities, schools and individuals to educate and inform them of the issues around climate change.

Initiatives such as EcoWeek engages school children through a range of fun and interesting talks, workshops, and seminars to educate them on climate change and biodiversity to become part of the solution to environmental needs. EcoWeek 2022 took place from 28th March to 1st April and more than 180 events were offered to schools throughout South Dublin.

Dublin Climate Action Week takes place every September. The week, which is delivered by South Dublin County Council, Dublin City Council, Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council, Fingal County Council, the Dublin Climate Action Regional Office (CARO) and Codema, the city of Dublin Energy Management Agency, aims to highlight Dublin’s climate action progress to its citizens and demonstrate the leadership role of the four local authorities in conjunction with other partners.

Events on the themes of Energy & Buildings, Flood Resilience, Transport, Resource Management, Nature Based Solutions and Citizen Engagement were delivered throughout Dublin as part of Dublin Climate Action Week.
