Tree trails have many important functions and can be found across sites in South Dublin.

As a nature-based solution, they contribute to the Council’s action against climate change and the biodiversity crisis, as trees absorb carbon dioxide from the air as they grow while providing important habitat for native wildlife.

Tree trails also represent an important educational and citizen engagement resource, enhancing our knowledge and connection to the trees native to our County, and the essential services they provide. They also support the Council’s tree management policy ‘Living with Trees’ by increasing tree canopy across the county and improve our parks and recreational areas for citizens.

Tree trails have been established in South Dublin at the following locations:

  • Ogham Tree Trail at Dodder Valley Park
  • Sean Walsh Park
  • Waterstown Park
