South Dublin County Council aims to support and reward community groups who take ownership of their environment and improve their local area by carrying out local biodiversity projects.
The Community Environment Action Fund (CEAF) promotes sustainable development by assisting small-scale environmental projects at a local level. South Dublin County Council supported 14 biodiversity projects in 2020.
While the Community Environment Action fund has not been available since the pandemic, the local authority continues to support biodiversity projects by:
- Continuing to support the Green Schools programme which includes biodiversity education.
- Delivering EcoWeek.
- Continuing to deliver the Minor Landscaping element of the Social Credits Scheme. This includes the provision of a horticulturist who advises groups what to plant, when to plant it, and how to look after it.
