The Chief Executive’s Draft of the Development Plan was submitted to the Councillors on 5th May for their consideration. Following consideration, the Draft Plan will go on public display on the 7th July and will remain on display until 15th September. This will allow for a period of over 10 weeks for the public and those interested to make a submission to the Plan. More details will follow on how to make a submission nearer the time.

The Plan sits within a hierarchy of plans and is required to have a Core Strategy which will show that the objectives in the plan are consistent with the objectives set out in National and Regional Strategies.

The Plan 'Must Haves'

In addition to compliance with National, Regional and Ministerial Guidelines the Plan must include a number of mandatory requirements as set out under Section 10 of the Planning and Development Act, 2000 (as amended).

Context - The Current Plan
