NTA Allocated Funding 2025

South Dublin County Council has received a grant allocation from the National Transportation Authority (NTA) of €21.5 Million for 2025. This grant will allow South Dublin County Council to progress its Active Travel and School Safety programme of works throughout 2025.

Major Active travel schemes funded by the NTA in currently in construction include:

  • Dodder Greenway, (Butterfield Avenue, Firhouse Road Section)
  • Dublin 24 Neighbourhood Network, (Phase 2, Ballycullen)
  • Castletymon Road Active Travel Scheme (north section) and
  • Clonburris Southern Link Street (Active Travel Elements).

The funding allows the Council to progress to construction, subject to contract, new schemes this year including:

  • Grand Canal to Lucan Urban Greenway, (Phase 1a Griffeen Park)
  • Whitehall Road Interim Active Travel Scheme,
  • Templeville Road Phase 2 and Glendown Road Active Travel Scheme.
  • Tallaght to Clondalkin Phase 1

The allocation also includes funding for a programme of Safe Routes to Schools and Safe School Zones to be undertaken in 2025 along with along with provision of cycle parking facilities across the county.

This funding allocation will allow SDCC to continue to design schemes in its ambitious Cycle South Dublin active travel network providing new and critical active travel links for all residents of South Dublin to enjoy.
