Rossmore Road Trial Scheme

Rossmore Road Trial Scheme

Rossmore Road Trial Scheme

Rossmore Road Trial Scheme is a scheme that came on foot of the Part 8 Approval for the Wellington Active Travel Scheme. It comprises a 2-way cycle track on Rossmore Road.

The scheme consisted also of junction tightening at Rossmore Drive, Rossmore Grove and Rossmore Crescent. The reduced junction radii are in line with current design guidance such as the Design Manual for Urban Roads and Streets and the Cycle Design Manual. The cycle track looks to cater to all cyclists whether is it used for commuting or leisure.

An evaluation of this scheme was undertaken with Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) in mind. This evaluation garnered the following data:

  • 54% of cyclists felt safer cycling on Rossmore Road post construction of this scheme.
  • 69% of respondents were satisfied with the facilities.
  • 29% of cyclists cycle more often now on Rossmore road and surrounding schemes than they did a year prior to the facilities opening.

More results from the evaluation as well as more information regarding this scheme can be found here:
