d24-3                     Section of D24  Phase 1

Construction completed in October 2025, with the construction of the Firhouse Rd scheme next year, this infrastructure will connect directly to the Dodder Greenway.

Benefits of Scheme construction include:

  • Encouraging people to walk and cycle rather than driving when they can.
  • Improve road safety particularly for the elderly and children and in turn reduce emissions causing climate change.
  • Similar schemes in have increased those walking and cycling and helped make area safer and more pleasant and more attractive.
  • Safer walking and cycling facilities allow more people to choose to walk or cycle for short trips and safer facilities will encourage more children to walk or cycle to nearby schools, Scoil Treasa, Firhouse Educate Together, Gaelscoil Na Giúise and Firhouse Community College.

This scheme is constructed under Section 38 of the Road Traffic Act, 1994.

Public consultation for this scheme took place in 2022 and can be viewed here.
