Sustainable Development Goals Week 2024

10 Sep 24

Ireland’s third SDG (Sustainable Development Goals) Week is taking place this year from 20 – 29 September.
SDG Week forms part of the wider European Sustainable Development Week (ESDW) which in 2023 saw over 5,000 events taking place across 28 countries. Ireland’s second SDG Week took place as part of this in partnership with Libraries Ireland, with almost 200 events held across the country, and with a wide variety of these held in libraries.

Having passed the mid-point of Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development, and as we look towards 2030, accelerating action towards the SDGs has never been more vital.

The National Implementation Plan for the SDGs (2022-2024) recognises local authorities as key stakeholders in this and emphasises the important role that local authorities can play in raising awareness of the SDGs and contributing to change.

Many local authorities have been leading the way in this, and SDG Week once again provides the opportunity to build on this great progress, creating greater awareness of the SDGs and celebrating the work taking place.
