Join us for a jam-packed day of poetry at South Dublin Libraries as we celebrate Poetry Day Ireland (29th April) with a series of six events – including topics such as climate change, the Irish language, New Irish poets, local voices and a headline event with Eilean Ní Chulleanain - throughout the day.

Booking for all events is free and opens on the 12th April at 10am.

11AM : Empty House: Climate Change (for Schools)

Join Alice Kinsella and Orla Ní Dhúill in this talk for schools about climate change and poetry, based around the forthcoming anthology, Empty House, edited by Alice Kinsella and Nessa O'Mahoney. Class Booking (Booked Out).

5PM: Irish Language Poetry

Hosted by Annemarie Ní Churreáin (Bloodroot), this online event features Irish-language poet Paddy Bushe (Second Sight). They will be discussing poetry, Irish-language poetry, and translating work to English.

6PM: Local Voices

South Dublin has a wealth of poetic talent and we are delighted to showcase readings from three of its finest poets: Brian Kirk (After the Fall), Christine Broe (Lifting Light) and Michael J. Whelan (Peacekeeper).

7PM: Empty House: A Climate Change Anthology

Co-editor Alice Kinsella will host this event featuring poets from the new Doire Press anthology, Empty House. With Catherine Phil MacCarthy (Daughters of the House), David Butler (All the Barbaric Glass) and Breda Wall Ryan (In a Hare's Eye).

8PM: New Directions

Dedalus Press' New Irish poetry anthology, featuring poets from elsewhere living in Ireland, cemented a growing community. Hosted by Chandrika Narayanan-Mohan, who was featured in the anthology, this event will also feature Grace Wilentz (The Limit of Light) and Polina Cosgrove (My Name Is)

9PM: Collected Poems - Eilean Ní Chuilleanáin

Our final event celebrates the landmark publication of Eilean Ní Chuilleanáin's Collected Poems. Eilean will read from the book and be in conversation with Jessica Traynor (The Quick)
